Hi Vanagon list! Not sure if my last e-mail went through, I had a friend use my e-mail account while I was away from the net to make the posting for me. My 82 Vanagon broke down in Des Moines, IA a few weeks ago... a problem with the axle. I was on tour and didn't have time to wait for parts, so I rented a car and left it there in Des Moines to get fixed. It's all good to go now and ready to drive away. It's sitting in front of the mechanic's house and he's got the title.

Summary is

1982 VW Vanagon, 68k miles, I purchased it for $3000 last November and have put about $2000 of work into it. New axles, wheel bearing, oil changed every 3000 miles, 24 mpg, runs on gas not diesel, egr has been cleaned recently out but the light is still on. Blower doesn't work but she won't overheat. New windshield wipers! I can go up to 80mph on a not so windy day. New spark plugs and spark plug wires. Roof leaks where the pop top was so I have duct tape on it for the moment. Needs new struts for the truck/back door unless you want a good workout. Interior is FAIR but the backseat could use some restuffing... it's springy back there. I've taken this van all around the USA twice and think I've worked out a lot of kinks, I just want something... else.

I sort of ended up stranded in the northeast so I moved to Portland, ME and my mechanic in Des Moines is handling the vehicle sale for me. I can arrange to have more pictures sent if you like. I'm really trying to get rid of it so I can get a new car before winter up here in Maine as my bike ride to and from work is a total of 32 miles so... please! Let's make a deal!

Give me a call or email if you have questions/interest :)
