I should add that my hot start problem, was just "a click", when trying to re-start when hot. Starter not turning-nada. Seemed like the battery was dead, except lights, radio, etc, worked. While it is always good to diagnose a problem, replacing the ignition switch, at least on a Vanagon, is good maintenance and the hot start relay stops all the current going through the switch and is a very worthwhile mod.Happy trails,John
