Dennis,

I had 205K on my '85 GL before I replaced it with my first '88 GL. Even then, the '85 with the 1.9L WBX was running strong. Used a little oil, but that was it. In all the time I had it, only three relative large maintenance issues ever came up - power steering rack got rebuilt, replaced the PS pump, and the water pump. When I moved from Alaska back south, I drove it 4500 miles with only two incidents. A collector pipe in the exhaust system cracked making it a bit noisy until I got where I was going. And the water pump failed 60 miles from my destination. Fixed both and drove a long time after settling into my new location. Yes - the WBX will go the distance if taken care of.
