The fittings he is talking about are different from the extend a flow/stay fittings.  I have a similar adapter that connects to the fill and was going to try using it with a barbq tank, just haven't gotten around to testing it.  I am hoping it will have enough pressure to open the valve once my main tank is empty.  We'll see.
