A number of folks have been creative at lubricating with tubes and other methods but these motors really are not designed to be serviced. It was probably about 20years old when it first failed and a high quality replacement should be good for another 20. Any a good penetrant will get it turning again and a lube like Synco Teflon oil or any good oil will keep it turning. Be careful as oil getting on the commutator/brushes can foul that up and make a real smoky mess. At this time you may be in need of a heater core anyway.

Does anyone know how to lubricate the front heater blower motor in an 84 Vanagon? Mine burned up several years ago, and I purchased a used blower motor. It is rather hard to turn and evidently needs lubrication. I can get to the rear bearing, but the front one is beneath the plastic cover that makes up the blades of the fan. Also, what type of lubrication should I use?

George
