I don't want to start an engine conversion war, but gets under my skin when people start bashing Subaru conversions. I've lived in Alaska for over 30 years, and there are more Subaru's per capita here than probably any other state out there. Alaska probably dishes out some of the harshest environments you're ever going to see for an engine, and Subaru has proven themselves over and over. Super easy to find parts as well. I must have passed 10 Subaru's in a 10 min drive today. Everywhere up here.

My daily drive is a 2.5 outback, and I've got a 2.2 in my vanagon from East Coast Vanaru. Hans there does a superb engine conversion. I've had ZERO problems with mine since the install. No mysterious error codes. Just starts and goes. I paid about $6900 for mine, and it had under 10,000 miles on it. Not a rebuilt, so everything is under 10,000 miles. I think I spent about $1200 on the install with new fuel hoses. Mechanic commented what a superb job Vanauru did on the kit. The instructions were very clear, and I think the only thing he struggled on was some of the gauges. A phone call to Hans and all was gold.

I certainly would not hesitate to do this again. Completely satisfied!
