But as a compensating factor, you get many more cycles of life when doing shallow discharges. I was just looking at an off-grid site that figures you get best lifetime cost if you limit your discharge depth not to fifty per cent but thirty-five! That's leaving 65% in the can all the time! On Scamp I used to run to 80%, accepting higher total cost but saving weight and initial cost.
