check pg. 2, "NOTE '86-'91" of that pdf.

If yours doesn't have that part, it's '85 or older. Maybe that will allow tach use on Bostig?

There's also a "NOTE" on pg. 1 near bottom of page re: 85 cluster and tach. This may help too.

Also noted. Up to '84, pin 1 on 14 pin connector is vacant. On '85 + and '84 Wolfsburg pin 1 is used. The foil on your cluster may have a copper trace going to where pin 1 connects, but if you trace that connector with a VOM, or even a visual trace, this might help determine if it's used or not.
