Worst infraction was leaving the gas cap at a gas station with my key somewhere in the middle of Oklahoma on a cross-country trip. Reason? My wife was driving with her own set of keys. I realized the missing keys about 30 mile after and we turned back and fortunately recovered the keys from the top of the pump! So from then on I do not put the cap on the top of the pumps. Instead on top of the van.

Other than that, trying to start it while still in gear because I set the stick in gear to keep it from rolling backward down the hill if for some reason the parking brake doesn't hold.

Oh wait, another dumb thing. Leaving the land electric extension cord plugged in while trying to back out of the garage.

But wait, there's more! While working in the galley area I forgot to set the parking brake on a gently sloping drive way. Mad dash to grab the parking brake handle!!!! D'oh!
