It's interesting when you really tear into something and what you find. Back in 1988 I bought a brand new Wellcraft power boat. Wellcraft wasn't top of the line, but it wasn't known to be junk either, and I paid a good amount of money for this boat. It was a cuddy cabin, and after a year or so the interior cabin light quit working. First thing I tried was the bulb, and when that wasn't the problem I started to trace the wiring. I was shocked to find that a lot of the wiring, not just to the cabin light, was made up of scraps of wire spliced together. And spliced together with cheesey butt connectors. It was as though the guy that wired my boat was just picking up scraps off the floor and splicing them together! A 20 foot run was made up of 5 sections of wire spliced together! Not good for something that is going to pretty much in a wet environment, even worse if it is being used in salt water. Really shook my faith in Wellcraft boats! PS- If you think a Vanagon can cost you some $$, you ain't seen nothing 'til you've owned a boat! Jeff Stewart ----- Original Message ----- > My '87 was similar, maybe not even as nice.
