Just a mention, it WILL be cold in N. Arizona, and snow is a good bet. Canon de Chelly (pronounced "Shay") will definitely be quite cold and windy. See it in another season if possible (it was cold when we were there in June one year), but see it when you can. Great place. Camping is out in the open, windy, crowded, no privacy. Hiking requires a paid Navajo guide I believe, but then you learn more that way.

Quite a few long driving days, but great tradeoff for long days relaxing on the ocean. AZ is great right now, with rain on some afternoons. Can be chilly at night already. Do you want electricity and bathrooms or dirt roads and open air? That changes the ideas for sure. Canyon de Chelly and Monument Valley are great places to see too! > > Date: Sun, 16 Sep 2012 07:13:10 -0700 > > From: dhanson928@GMAIL.COM > > Subject: Re: Seeking Winter Westy Destinations: Southwest and/or Baja > > To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > > > > 12 days is not really enough time to go to Baja, really.
