Cutting some bottom coils off is still probably the easiest and cheapest way. Cut 2 off first, see what happens, then 1 more and see what happens. Repeat as needed until you are happy with the height. Then add a big center donut inside the bottom coil that is left, centering it on the lower spring post of the control arm.
