Passes the dollar bill test on top and sides, not so tight the full width of the bottom.

Um, so you're asking whether the door will close enough to press against the seal if the striker plate is removed? Hang on, lemme see, I'll be right back.

I'm back. With the striker plate removed, if I lean my butt against the closed hatch, the dollar bill is much harder to remove. I guess what I'm dealing with there is that the striker plate doesn't move forward enough to seal the lower edge.
