Hi Dana, welcome to Vanagons and the list.

Could you explain your situation a bit more fully? If you're talking about attaching the wiper arm to its shaft, the male thread is part of the shaft; and the easiest way to deal with it stripping or breaking off is to drill and tap the shaft for M6x1. There's an article on GoWesty.com and some recent list discussion - search the archives at www.gerry.vanagon.com for windshield wiper repair since the beginning of August.

If that's not it, you'll have to amplify your description.
