My late father and I learned (the hard way) over 45 years ago that ORIGINAL Continental Belts were the ONLY way to go on a Volkswagen (62 Bug, 67 Bus, 69 Bus, etc.,). Having tried the Goodyear, Dayco and Gates "so called" equivalents were just not up to the task of longevity. To be fair, the Gates brand proved to be the better of the 3, VW even used Gates Belts and Hoses on OE production for Rabbits and Pickups at the Westmorland plant in PA (my 81 Diesel PU had 'em - had both the VW & Gates # printed on the belt[s]). As per my penchant for keeping spare parts in all of my VWs, I keep two spare 10x1110mm Conti Belts under my rear seat pad in both my Vanagons (and yes, spare 10x965 belts in my 411 Wgn and 914).

Go with the Continental and stick with it.
