Bentley says on 15.24 lifters can become "air bound", and to adjust lash to
.006", which will let them fully fill up.  You can also leave it that way.
You should check your oil pressure, and run at least a 15w-40 oil.  Modern
5w and 10w thin oils are not meant for the loose waterboxer.

Hi All,

The engine is rebuilt and in the bus and running well.  Several questions.
I thought I did an adequate job of oiling the lifter before I installed
them.  They are making lots of noise?  I drove the bus maybe 15 miles.  How
long might it take for them to quiet down?  I think I adjusted the rockers
well, and there isn't any slop.  Any thoughts?

While I was doing the rebuild I was doing some cleaning, and loosened the
screws on the luggage rack.  You know where I am going...while doing the
test drive the luggage rack flew up, smashed the skylight, and pretty well
trashed the luggage rack.  Any thoughts where I might get one?  Nothing on
Ebay or The Samba at the moment.
