Subject: Quick, inexpensive wiper upgrade
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Yesterday I was thinning out my spare parts pile and came across a pair of old 21 inch wiper blades. I didn't think they belong to my Vanagon, so I matched them up to the wipers currently on my 87. The 21 inch blades were significantly longer than the ones on the Vanagon, but it looked like they might fit nonetheless.

So I put them on, and turned on the wipers. Good news and bad news. The wiper blade worked perfectly on the driver's side, but for some reason, too large for the passenger side. Long story short, a 19 inch blade worked on the passenger side.

I then took one of the 18" front blades and put it on the rear window. It fit!

I went out and bought one new 21" and one 19" blade for under $25. Now I have a larger sweep area on the windshield and rear window.
