With the key on, engine not running, ground the blue wire at the alternator. The dash light should light up. If not you have a wiring/dash problem or the light itself is no good. There is some related circuitry. Since you were working with the fridge relay you may have shorted something out.

Besides the light does not come on when the key is on, the charging will only start if I rev up the engine pretty high to make it kick in. Then it provides 13.9 volts.
The blue wire connection is clean.
Do I need to check continuity of the blue wire somewhere? Or is there anything else to fix?

The charging light does not come on when the key is on. And it bothers me if it's not as it should be.
What would be the reason why it is not coming on?
I'm hoping to fix it by tomorrow.

The charging light absolutely must come on when the key is turned on.
After the engine is started it must go out, perhaps after a little reving. If yours does not come on with the key and go out when the engine is running then something is wrong and it is very important that you fix it and not just walk away washing your hands. It could cost someone an engine if you don't have a working alternator light on a wbx.
