well, I'm not completely at the stage of being a WWII re-enactor :)

But what would be useful is one of those canvas water bags. I remember "dromedary" brand ones. I have 2 canvas buckets, a largish green US model and a smaller un-dyed French one. We find them very useful when vanagon camping.
