I've never owned a "Coleman" stove or lantern that used liquid fuel as I never felt comfortable with a gallon of liquid fuel inside a vehicle with me. If I was to carry 5 gallons of fuel with me even outside I would want a container designed, rated, and marked for that purpose. There is a significant liability there. Just getting caught filling that container could be a bad fine day. I only carried extra fuel once when I did the Alaska trip. All the traveling I've done I have yet to not be able to find fuel within 200 miles except the run from Coldfoot to Prudhoe Bay and even there I was able to get fuel from one of the work sites.

Robert,

thanks for the link, good info. I have to say though, that the tightness of the cam action of the lid makes me think I could get a good seal if I fit new gasket.
