Yes!

Plan: glue narrow blocks of Rigid Board to panel, apply FF, vapour barrier, then Rigid Board. A floating panel is the goal. Create a little breathing room and air insulation between insulation and panel.

Very long term approach, but my UN-educated theory is that applying sticky type insulation to panel will only create more prep time come time for body work. (rust will happen eventually)

A test piece of RB has been glued using contact cement and sticks well to painted metal. The contact cement is rated to 70º C (158º F) so should hold up.
