The front bulbs are dual filament. If you hook the wrong filament to the turn signal wire the blinker current is too low to properly operate the flasher relay. The turn signals are supposed to use the brighter of the 2 filaments in the front. This is complicated by the fact that the bulbs come both ways, with opposite internal wiring on one versus the other. If you get new bulbs that are reversed in this way, the wrong filament will be flashing and the flasher relay won't like it. Mark
