As a Canadian who has done several trips through beautiful US states in his Westy, the speed zone change thing can not be over emphasized.

GPS *might* provide some warning, but I prefer to do my best to stay on top of the signage. That's a drag you got a ticket Ken!

I'm sure there's been many times where drivers have been frustrated at me slowing right down to the limit (or lower. My speedo is in KM's) but I don't care.

"Blue highways" are great. And, traveling those might allow one to contribute to the more local economies.
