Thanks Stephan, I wish I had thought of this Saturday. One shop listed, Euro Pros, is fairly close to my daughters college campus. So is Casey Volkswagen and we all know about dealers!! I found reviews of Casey VW on line that pretty much said "stay away"! In the end I ended up towing the NB back to N. Virginia to my shop up here, Progressive Automotive, in Hamilton, VA. It's looking like a plastic piece in the cooling system , right off the head, and has two (temp?) sensors connected to it, has cracked. I got down there too late Saturday (5 1/2 hours to make a 200 mile drive!) to have any chance of getting any part I might need. I'll keep this place in mind for time-if there is a next time for her Beetle! I've now spent 3 times what I paid for the car in repairs-luckily I only paid a grand for the car!
