I'm tossing around the options and here's what I've got right now: 1) There's a nice weekender EV with 115K that I can get for $18K 2) There's a full camper EV with less than 40K miles that I can get for over $30K. =8^O 3) There's a Westy weekender in Cali with 9xK miles that I can get for about $25K =8^O 4) I can buy a 2000 BMW 528it (wagon) for about $7K and fix up my van.

I have an '83 Westy and an '03 EV MV. The EV is allot more modern and much more comfortable to drive. I bought it in '08 and put about $1,500 into it for misc small stuff the first few months. After that it has been pretty good but the simplest thing is very expensive. It's currently still under extended warranty for 1 more year. Murphy's Law will tell you when that tranny is going to blow.... I am going to rethink keeping it after the warranty expires as it may be too expensive to own. Still not sure yet. If it becomes a money black hole like my wife's '98 A4 then it will have to go. I recently got an '01 Chrysler Sebring ragtop from my parents with 26K on it and have been giggling like a schoolgirl driving that thing with the top down every day and enjoying the 24 mpg too. :) Yeah, the Vanagon is frustrating but allot less money to maintain.

If money were no object, I think my choice would either 1 or 2 of the above. The EV campers are nice but it's really hard to get parts for them. I might go with the Weekender and save my extra $20K for repairs and other things. I think the EV full campers are WAY overpriced at this time. Commanding over $35K-$40K. Ironically enough, a Eurovan based Rialta http://tinyurl.com/8osw38e (and there is another I forget) are selling for less money....
