In that case , at least take the belt off the Alt first and spin the
alternator by hand ..
see how the bearings are for roughness or play.
Iwas going to suggest taking it to an electrical rebuilder or a FLAPS
for test,
though I would trust a 'real' electrical rebuildershop a lot more.
