The Business Model from most cars now is to NOT be serviceable outside a dealership. The Business Model calls for you to pay and pay again. First for the vehicle, then the extended service policy and then to replace the vehicle when the warranty expires or the service contract comes due again. I think the Porsche Boxster has to have the engine out to change the spark plugs.. A lot of vehicles need a dealer key to unlock the software in the EMS to diagnose problems, and they won't run properly till all the faults are cleared....by the dealer, of course. Even governments are trying to get into forcing us to replace vehicles rather than repair them....Older trucks can't haul freight in California, for instance.."Cash for Clunkers" remember that? I saw lots of nice vehicles getting crushed rather than upgraded or repaired... Our Disposable Society..."don't fix anything, just chuck it and get a new one"

We're all dinosaurs, us people who actually fix our own vehicles.... Don Hanson
