Up at West River Westys someone had an intermittent shut down problem and in trying to help it turned into a no run at all. Found the 12 volt wire from the coil to the ECU was corroded inside the insulation. Had to cut back about 6" and add a piece to get unbroken wire strands. That fixed it. Look at the ECU or the power feed to the ECU. I have seen and fixed numerous intermittent and solidly dead waterboxer vans by finding a bad wire that kills power to the ECU. Often one right at the alternator main wiring stud. There are just a few wires that can do this. If you have access to a spare ECU try it. IMHO everyone who travels in a wbx van should have a known good, tested in their own van spare ECU along for the ride. There are so many floating around now that a used one can be found for under $100 unless you wait until you have to have one quick. It is not that they fail very often, just that you can swap one in in 2 minutes and then move on to finding the real problem, or just to keep a shop from ordering an expensive part you can't return.
