Nice write up and pics, thanks for sharing. Camping in the damp and cold can be depressing. On the other hand, with the right equipment, it can also be liberating. Campgrounds are quieter, for one thing. Trails are empty. There's something soothing about the sound of rain on the top (assuming your skylight isn't leaking). Get an awning, a decent rain shell, a good pair of waterproof boots, and pack a set (or two) of dry socks. Bring a book and a cozy blanket.

When I used to backpack more, I hated cold damp weather. Much different in the van, IMHO. When we've gone van camping in the rain, we try to keep the interior of the van a "dry-zone" as much as possible. Boots and jackets hang outside (under the awning), wet items get stashed out of the way in the front. With your little electric heater, you ought to be able to keep things comfortable.
