Reason I asked is that the alloys and some later steel wheels are 6" wide. This gives a few more options as you can then use a 225 width tire such as a 225/70-14. Normal load index in this size is 98. Will be about an inch taller than stock and 40mm wider. The 5.5" wheels limit you to a 215 width.

I have a number of customers running the general Altimax, 205/70-14 reinforced tire (98 load index) which is the replacement for this size tire used by VW on many 87 and later vans, (all with alloy wheels). It works well as an all season tire, is of reasonable cost and currently readily available. Tire rack carries them. Local tire shops can easily get them. For years I ran a 215/70-14 even on my Syncro westy. The load index on those is only 96, (1554 pounds) as opposed to the original was only 97, (1580). There are many choices in this size including dedicated winter tires like the firestone Winter force.
