See http://www.qadas.com/~kanas/Vehicles/Syncro/South_African_Grille_Procedure.html  Point 4.0 shows the removal of a riveted tab that is used in the rectangular light installation.  I removed it in order to install the SA grill, and it may be essential for the original.
