>> Don't even get me started on POI...<< Ayup- map & POI info is only as good as the map provider furnishes to the unit's manufacturer. For example if you pump my address into a Garmin, which uses Navteq maps, you'll be directed almost a tenth of a mile beyond the house. Worse, she'll send you to a graveyard if you're looking for Frank Condelli. He keeps trying to tell me me that he ain't dead yet. Last week, running a Garmin & Magellan simultaneously using a Georgia state campground's, street address the Mag came up short whilst the Garmin was spot on. And in case you were wondering,, I wasn't using voice in both units- no one wants to hear two women arguing all of the time. <G> BTW, Topo maps available for downloading to Garmin's devices here: http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/ and I'm fond of http://www.poi-factory.com/ for POI downloads, discussion and help Happy motoring, Geo/ATL |
