hey all right .. year and model is stated ! how much do vendors want for this lamp assembly - something like 45 bucks ? I think up to 25 is reasonable. They're seldom needed, but when you do need one....there's only one per vanagon, and sometimes they break anyway. re map lights .. what I *really*like is a gooseneck style that mounts with screws to the top of the dash .. I put mine just to the right of the ashtray and near the lip of the dash. The shorter ones are hard to find - I found some like 18 inch long ones - don't need that. I'm constantly using my map light to find stuff in the cockpit at night etc. Mandatory equipment on any 'keeper' Vanagon I think. scott www.turbovans.com

I can get the bulb from the online vendors, but they want big bucks for the lamp itself. This is the lamp that is above and to the left of the glove box, rectangular in shape, snaps into the dash. > > I didn't even know there was such a lamp, until my mechanic and I pulled the dash for other reasons. So now I know the spot for the lamp is there, and I have the wire and plug hanging out. I'd like to fill the opening with a lamp, but if I have to pay what the vendors want, I'll just push the wire back in and forget it. > > mcneely > > -- > David McNeely > |
