I talked to him about that. I would imagine that any welder would say anyway .. take it off, clean it up real good, and I'll take a look at it.

As is known, the DV oilpan uses a different drain plug sealing system than conventional drain plugs. The sealing surface is at the bottom of the drain plug , and tapered.. so it works like a bleed valve actually.

they have been known to crack at the sealing surface. There may be some chance of converting it to conventional drain plug, where the sealing surface is under the head of the drain plug. fwiw ..aftermarket pans from europe don't use the original tapered 'bleed valve' sealing system /

oh..a common rabbit/jetta drain plug sues the same threads as DV. there is a slight chance of getting one of those to work .

but take it off, get it fixed right. heck ...weld that area shut and put a petcock on the bottom of the oil filler tube -the aluminum part there.
