I just installed these. Use a rubber mallet and tap them on, lining up tight at the top first. They have adhesive in them. You could try painting them silver before you installed them if you want, but I doubt it would look good. All that OEM plastic silver trim looks bad after 20 years or so anyway!

Stuart '85 Westy, yellowed silver trim all gone.

I recently received a set of replacement rain gutters (the ones for the A-pillar) from bus depot. The trim on my vanagon is silver, the replacements came only in black (van is ivory).

Two questions: do drivers normally paint these these silver (on older models), leave them black or paint them the car color? And do they press or knock on, or should they be glued, and if so, with what?

Thanks,

Jim
