Subject: The Westy earns its keep

The honey-do list always seems to interfere with the serious part of life--camping--and this season is no exception.  We're replacing the interim wooden steps on the recent back porch with something more substantial, a poured concrete core to be faced with brick.  Last weekend I fetched eight 80# bags of the stuff for a pad and last night cautiously used both vans to get more for the main part.  The Westy took twenty 80# bags and the Mopar minivan got ten.  I was expecting the Westy to be on its knees but the only hints about the load were a slight settling on the springs and stronger whacks when hitting potholes.  I expect the Westy could have taken all thirty bags (2,400 lbs.) without breathing hard.

Stephen
