I was gonna say the same thing. though Jim said 'back to air-cooled days' ... so I'm figuring that means Bay Busesand that ilk.

Many parts do carry on through the years in VW's for sure though.

Consider VW van wheel mounting bolts. Those might be the samefrom the beginningof the Split Window Bus production to the last vanagon produced, for steel wheels.
