Spray a bit of silicone lube onto the wire at the control end, and then work the lever back and forth. Repeat once or twice for each lever. Since it is liquid, I figure the lubricant can work its way down the cable better than a grease. Does make the interior smell a bit of chemicals, so be sure to air the van out for a few hours afterwards.
