I too am a more than happy customer of Daryl at AAtransaxle he goes the extra mile and is always willing to discuss your specific needs and recommend appropriate solutions. My Syncro transmission that he built in 2004 did have a problem a few years later when it was out of warranty by time but had low miles on it. I contacted Daryl and he covered it under warranty, I did have to pull it and pay shipping but it was more than fair as it was outside his stated warranty coverage. As for the other options you listed I have no personal experiences for transmissions but do know that a local Vanagon repair shop that many of us here in Anchorage use was very displeased with GoWesty after one of their transmissions failed and they refused to cover it. Some shops I might question their version of the story but not this one as I have know the owner for almost twenty years.
