I keep a bottle of "stuff" from the local auto parts place --  "bug and
tar" remover, probably on the shelf by the waxes, always had good luck with
it to clean up the paint around wheel wells. Removes tar and black road
stuff very well without damaging paint, should be safe for the pop top.
It might work on sap also.
