Hi Dick,

These pics might help you understand what needs to be done. I cut a small crisscross slit on the fabric to keep the pointed ends of guide tube from getting bend as I used a small plastic mallet to drive them into position. The barbs should engage the metal hoops inside the upholstery frame.
