8 bolts, 4 on each flange, front and rear. It actually stows pretty nicely in the luggage box on a camper but you'd find room in your van pretty easily while on the road. Sometimes requires loosening the front diff bolts to allow the shaft to drop out but my experience is that my original prop shaft just dropped out when I got all the bolts out of the flanges. I tied one end of the shaft up with a wire coathanger just to keep it fairly straight as I was loosening the other end. Not required as the loosened end can be draped on the ground if you don't have the van up on a lift.
