I haven't been reading all these posts, but since I now own my first rectangular headlight Vanagon this may be something of interest to me. Sealed beam rectangular headlights? Yes, I know for a fact they exist, as I have owned several early and mid 90's Chevy vans which used rectangular sealed beam headlights, as well as one 1993 Jeep Wrangler with rectangular headlights (remember those? Jeep purists went NUTS and they went back to round headlights.) I would assume those sealed beam headlights were the same size as those used in Vanagons, but maybe I'm wrong, like I said, my '89 is the first rectangular headlight Vanagon I've owned, and since it has no engine, I'm not worried about the headlights...yet.
