Yeah, right after I sent that I thought to myself I shouldn't have commented because I don't kow anything (other than what I've read here) about the later model Vanagons and their rectangular headlights. But I do know enough about Vangons to know that if there was an off the wall, non-standard and more expensive way of doing something, Volkswagen most likely did it that way on the Vanagon!
