I saw these, for the life of me I can't understand how something that thin directly on the glass surface can protect that much from a stone hitting them. Pitting over time from smaller items yes.

I like the Lexan cover idea Miguel suggested, it just seems better. I must not be using the correct search string though because I can't find them.
