I could be all wrong here, but I seem to recall the 1986 5000 2wd turbo automatic as one possibility. I think they have extra planetary gears and more clutch packs.

Can anyone of you give me the code year model etc of an Audi Auto Trans that I want to use for a bullet proof rebuild? I have an 86 AW with an 07 subi 2.5 and a peloquin final drive. After the 1st rebuild and about 30K miles I have been through 2 rebuilds the last lasting not even 1000k miles. I want the strongest turbo audi auto Trans to use in conjunction with a couple cores and a rebuild kit with whatever strong parts I can get to make a Trans that will hold up to daily driving camping and all the other cool things we do with our cool rigs.

All suggestions would be appreciated and helpful. I really love my van and in no way want to replace it with a sprinter. (-: I would only do that if I had no choice.

Pat in SC near Charlotte NC
