I have done a few solar installs on boats and vanagons, and used to use those 2 pin GM connectors for smaller panels, exactly as you are planning. I have found though that they simply do not last. They are not designed to be exposed as openly as a panel installation, and they fail over time. Ever one i've done has now been switched over to MC4 connectors. MC4's seem to last forever.
