I figure oil is a pretty cheap thing you can do for your Van. 3-4qts doesn't break the bank...especially when I often use inexpensive (but brand name) oil. I've not had the experience of having a dedicated camping van that sits between trips, but I'd be tempted to change the oil before I'd *risk* running it with contaminated oil from condensation or whatever. Six months, if driven just a few times and not far enough for a mileage-based oil change, that seems pretty good... Here in the Northwest, moisture can get inside in the oil, even when it is sitting out of the rain.. recently it was clear where I live but 90-some percent humidity and the temp never went above about 35f...there was dew and moisture even inside my shop on the concrete, etc... I have to guess some of that will find it's way into your mechanical stuff and fresh oil is a good way to get ride of that... I use a 3-4k mile interval for my van, running dyno oil...Sometimes I simply drain the oil and leave the filter in place for one change interval...I seem to get good bearing life doing it this way. I error on the side of "too frequent" oil changes... Don Hanson
