Subject: Ignition Switch - now another problem there
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

Thanks to all who came to my aid on how to remove the ignition switch housing. The trick was simple - turn the key and unlock the steering. Duh!! Why didn't I think of that!

Headlight failure is what prompted all this in the first place. Now that the switch has been replaced, a related problem has arisen.

I did the ol' "pull the dimmer stalk" trick to see if the high beam lights would come on when the ignition was off. That test told me the light circuit was good - but the ignition switch was bad. So - a new switch was put in.

The new problem: no lights at all with the new switch. Not even the brights when the stalk is pulled with the ignition switch turned off. Engine starts and runs. Interior electrical is all on. But no lights of any kind. Have I gotten a brand new OEM switch that is bad?? It's possible, but not likely. But who knows.

Any suggestions as to where to look for the trouble.

Thanks,

John Rodgers
