Doug, you might look a little further afield for a place to park the motorhome. For example, Davis. There is Amtrak service several times per day between Davis and Berkeley. Not that long a ride, and some interesting sites along the way. And of course, Berkeley has BART service all day and night.

The places I could recommend to visit would be on everyone's list including all the published stuff. However, at the risk of being redundant, I must mention Muir Woods National Park and the state park next door, both in Marin County (name for the state park escapes me at the moment). There are wonderful area parks in Oakland and Berkeley in the hills, some with great views of the entire Bay area. mcneely
